About You

You are a person who loves to evaluate revenue cycle operations, identify opportunities financial and operational improvement, assess organizational readiness for outsourcing or centralization initiatives, and develop strategic recommendations that drive measurable results. We need someone who has a combination of deep revenue cycle expertise with strong analytical and consulting skills. In the role of Revenue Cycle Consultant, you will be responsible for supporting and leading healthcare consulting engagements focused on revenue cycle assessments, operational due diligence, performance improvement, and transformational initiatives for hospitals, health systems, physician practices, and other healthcare organizations.

About The Position

Revenue Cycle Assessments & Due Diligence


  • Lead and support comprehensive revenue cycle assessments across patient access, mid-revenue cycle, health information management, coding, charge capture, billing, follow-up, denials management, cash posting, credit balances, and patient financial services.
  • Conduct operational due diligence reviews for healthcare organizations evaluating outsourcing, centralization, shared business office, managed services, acquisition, or transformation opportunities.
  • Evaluate revenue cycle workflows, organizational structures, staffing models, policies, procedures, and system utilization to identify operational and financial improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze key performance indicators, benchmarking data, and financial metrics to identify performance gaps and root causes.
  • Assess technology utilization, automation opportunities, and workflow effectiveness across revenue cycle operations.
  • Quantify financial impacts and develop business cases supporting recommended operational improvements.


Consulting & Client Engagement


  • Facilitate stakeholder interviews, operational observations, and workflow assessments with executive and operational leaders.
  • Develop current-state and future-state process documentation and operational roadmaps.
  • Present findings and recommendations to client leadership teams, including Directors, Vice Presidents, CFOs, and Executive Leadership.
  • Support implementation planning and change management activities associated with assessment findings.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing industry best practices and operational guidance.


Project Management & Team Leadership


  • Manage project workplans, timelines, deliverables, and client communications across multiple engagements.
  • Coordinate activities with internal and client stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Mentor junior consultants and analysts while providing guidance on project activities and deliverable development.
  • Ensure engagement deliverables are accurate, actionable, and aligned with client objectives.
  • Support quality assurance efforts related to analyses, presentations, and final reports.


Business Development & Thought Leadership


  • Support proposal development, statements of work, and client presentations.
  • Contribute to the development of advisory methodologies, assessment tools, benchmarking resources, and best practices.
  • Participate in business development discussions and help identify opportunities for expanded client engagement.
  • Stay current on healthcare reimbursement methodologies, regulatory requirements, revenue cycle trends, and industry best practices.



Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of healthcare revenue cycle leadership, consulting, advisory, or operational experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in hospital and physician revenue cycle operations, including patient access, coding, charge capture, billing, denial management, accounts receivable, cash posting, and patient financial services.
  • Experience conducting operational assessments, performance improvement initiatives, or due diligence reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
  • Experience analyzing operational and financial performance metrics and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to travel as needed (typically 25-30%).


Preferred Requirements:


  • Previous healthcare consulting or advisory experience.
  • Experience supporting revenue cycle outsourcing, central business office, shared services, or managed services initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, Oracle Health, MEDITECH, CPSI, Athena, or other healthcare information systems.
  • Experience with revenue cycle technology platforms, clearinghouses, automation tools, and analytics solutions.
  • Knowledge of healthcare benchmarking methodologies and KPI development.
  • Professional certifications such as HFMA, CRCR, CHFP, CPC, CPMA, or other healthcare-related certifications.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations and delivering recommendations to senior healthcare leaders.
