What to Expect
As an Additive Technician you will be supporting our die shop team in printing 3D parts for our dies.
What You'll Do
- Prepare machines, materials, and CAD designs for builds on various AM systems
- Set up, operate, and maintain Additive Manufacturing (including Metal AM) machines
- Perform post-processing: part breakout, cleaning, sandblasting, surfacing, polishing, and testing
- Inspect finished parts against specifications and standards; maintain inventory control
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve process or equipment issues; pack parts and update paperwork
- Complete daily/weekly facility cleanup and collaborate with machine makers on process specs and parameters
- Provide input on new product development
What You'll Bring
- 2-year degree, technical school certificate preferred, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years running 3D printers in Additive Manufacturing, Rapid Prototyping, R&D, or service environment preferred
- Experience with 3D printing and CAD software (Build Setup, Magics, CATIA, SolidWorks, Pro-E, Fusion 360, Autodesk, Onshape, etc.)
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD and design-for-AM / build-prep software (3DXpert and similar)
- Knowledge of post-print processes (heat treatment, surface finishing, powder removal, power tools) and ability to produce/inspect complex tight-tolerance parts with limited guidance
- Ability to troubleshoot machines after print or equipment failures; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong work ethic, organization, attention to detail, and communication; willingness to work overtime/nights/weekends as needed and to learn/grow on individual projects
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day on varied and uneven terrain including concrete surfaces
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch,twistand crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Must be able to frequently and repetitively lift/carry 30 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. infrequently
- Frequently and repetitively push heavy carts and dollies
- The ability to carry up to 20 lbs. up and down flights of stairs multiple times a day
- Ability to drive cars & trucks back and forth while being outside of the factory for up to 12 hours/day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures while bearing hand tools on their person. For example, climbing ladders while wearing a tool belt
- Ability to identify issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, andhearing
- Follow all safety rules and guidelines including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing the above-mentioned activities
- Ability to correctly wear respiratory protection such as half and full-face respirators, if required, for up to 12 hours/day
- Ability to perform the above-mentioned activities while working in outdoor weather conditions
