Commissioning Systems Lead

Tesla's Cell Infrastructure team is seeking an experienced Commissioning Systems Lead to drive commissioning and startup activities for a new energy infrastructure facility. Reporting to the Commissioning Lead, this role is critical to the safe, structured, and successful delivery of complex infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in project commissioning, proven leadership in cross-functional environments, and a disciplined approach to planning and execution. This role requires close collaboration with Engineering, QA/QC, Construction, and Operations teams to ensure systems are commissioned and turned over in alignment with Tesla's standards and production timelines.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned commissioning scopes; develop and implement project-specific commissioning plans for each system
• Establish and manage budgets and schedules across all assigned commissioning scopes, proactively identifying risks and driving resolution
• Review mechanical design documents, submittals, P&IDs, and specifications to verify compliance, constructability, and operability
• Lead Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) and manage the formal system turnover process from Construction through Commissioning to Operations
• Ensure adherence to Tesla's codes, standards, and specifications throughout all commissioning activities; coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and resources required for execution.
• Plan and lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs)/integrated system tests; partner with the QA team to verify equipment inspections prior to installation
• Leads through influence and hold team members accountable to schedule commitments and escalate delays that impact commissioning milestones

• Degree in chemical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Minimum5yearsofexperienceleadingcommissioningoperationsonlarge-scaleinfrastructureorindustrialprojects
• Strongtechnicalknowledgeofmechanicalandelectricalsystems,includingHVAC, process systems, pumps, compressors, chillers, among others
• Demonstratedleadershipexperiencemanagingmultidisciplinaryteamsinfast-paced,high-stakesenvironments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex technical issues and develop clear, actionable plans
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical complexity into concise direction for diverse stakeholders
• Ability to operate effectively under pressure, make sound judgments with incomplete information, and adapt quickly to changing conditions
