Job Title: Engineering Assistant
Duration: 5+ Months
Location: Hybrid- Pittsburgh, PA or Portland, OR

Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Assistant, you will assist the engineering lead with administrative engineering tasks, including maintaining the discipline design package schedule, tracking design review sign-offs, reviewing design package checklists for completion, and supporting the onboarding and offboarding of design staff on the project team. You will also be responsible for document control at the engineering discipline level, coordinating with engineering leads, organizing administrative and engineering data, and interfacing with project document control, design automation teams, and department managers.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Maintain discipline design package schedules.
  • Track design review sign-offs and approvals.
  • Review design package checklists for completeness.
  • Manage document control activities for the engineering discipline.
  • Take meeting notes during discipline organizational meetings.
  • Maintain revision control of discipline tools, including equipment lists, calculations, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with department managers to plan the onboarding and offboarding of project staff.
  • Coordinate with the project document control team for submission of supporting documents and checklists for each design package.
  • Track design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to share project data.
  • Apply company and project safety standards in design activities and daily work.
  • Work collaboratively with project team members and department personnel.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with key project stakeholders.
  • Understand project and design team expectations to deliver high-quality results.
  • Meet project commitments related to schedules, effort hours, and cost budgets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve work processes and reduce project costs and schedules.


Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of document control processes.
  • Knowledge and application of engineering design and document standards.
  • Familiarity with Architectural/Engineering project delivery methods.
  • Ability to organize and manage data effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project Management or Engineering background.
  • Understanding of work and information flow between engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of schedule constraints and deliverable requirements.
  • Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.
  • Associate's (2-year technical) degree or Bachelor's (4-year non-technical) degree.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience in project delivery design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneNote.
  • Strong listening, writing, and presentation skills.
