Position Summary
We are seeking a
Senior Specialist - Leave of Absence & Accommodations to support the administration of leave of absence, disability, and workplace accommodation programs within the Benefits team. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of leave administration, ADA accommodations, disability support, and complex case escalations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in leave and disability program administration, excellent communication skills, and experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This position partners closely with HR, Legal, Payroll, external leave administrators, and other stakeholders to deliver a seamless employee experience.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with ADA accommodations and leave administration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, managers, senior leadership, and external vendors.
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support leave of absence programs, including:
- Continuous and intermittent leave
- Return-to-work programs
- ADA accommodations
- Extended medical leave
- Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD)
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local leave and disability regulations.
- Serve as the primary liaison between employees and third-party leave and disability administrators.
- Coordinate the integration of FMLA administration with disability benefit programs.
- Interpret HR policies and monitor legislative updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Respond to escalated inquiries from employees, managers, vendors, HR teams, and contact centers.
- Partner with Legal, Payroll, HR, and external vendors to resolve complex, sensitive, and time-critical cases.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure timely case management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of experience administering:
- Leave of Absence (LOA)
- ADA accommodations
- Return-to-Work programs
- Extended Medical Leave
- Short-Term Disability (STD)
- Long-Term Disability (LTD)
- Experience working with third-party leave and disability administrators.
- Working knowledge of HR systems; Workday and ServiceNow experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of leave management regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and other applicable employment laws.
