Budget/Fiscal Officer II

The Budget/Fiscal Officer II serves as the lead financial officer for Kansas State University Salina and is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating financial operations that support the campus's mission, strategic priorities, and operational goals. The position provides leadership and oversight for financial management, budgeting, resource allocation, compliance, and business processes. The Budget/Fiscal Officer II works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective stewardship of resources, operational efficiency, and alignment with institutional policies and strategic objectives. This position reports to the CEO and Dean.

Kansas State University Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus is located in Salina, Kansas - a town of approximately 50,000 in close proximity to two major highways, and 65 miles west of K-State's main campus in Manhattan. The Salina campus is centered around the student experience emphasizing innovative learning, real-world experiences and industry connections. We are a tight-knit family with a small college feel and the resources of a Big 12 university.

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Eight years of relevant experience.
• Must have a Valid Driver's License upon employment.

Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager.

The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the analytical, financial and organizational skills essential for managing complex business operations, developing budgets and ensuring compliance with institutional policies. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and experiential learning inherent in a formal degree program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field highly preferred.
• Experience with state, government, or higher education finances
• Experience with contracts and purchasing in public institutions
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and educational experiences
