The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks a highly motivated and detailed-oriented Senior Finance Generalist (Financial Operations Professional 3) to lead and support the department's financial operations. This position is responsible for a broad range of financial and administrative functions, including budgeting, payroll, accounting, financial reporting, capital equipment purchasing, and financial compliance. The Senior Finance Generalist serves as a key resource to departmental leadership, ensuring the effective stewardship of financial resources and adherence to University policies and procedures. The successful candidate will provide strategic financial analysis and operational guidance to support informed decision-making and advance the department's academic and research missions. As the primary financial liaison to the School of Engineering Dean's Office, this individual will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and University partners to support departmental goals and initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. The anticipated hiring range is $75,000-$83,000 annually, commensurate with experience and subject to internal equity, market review, job profile alignment, and applicable approvals.
