Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Afantis Lab as a Research Technician.
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join our well-established and internationally recognized laboratory, which has been a leader in hematology and leukemia research for more than 25 years. Working closely with the Principal Investigator and junior faculty, the successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research focused on the biology and treatment of blood cancers.
The Research Technician will perform a variety of experimental procedures, including molecular and cellular biology techniques, animal studies, and general laboratory operations, while supporting ongoing research projects. This position offers exceptional opportunities to develop advanced technical expertise, contribute to high-impact scientific publications and presentations, and work in a collaborative, intellectually stimulating environment with strong mentorship.
This role is particularly well suited for recent graduates seeking 2+ years of hands-on research experience before pursuing MD, PhD, or other advanced graduate training in the biomedical sciences.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory experiments using established protocols and procedures, accurately record and analyze experimental data, and maintain detailed research records.
- Support a broad range of research activities, including bench-based experiments, mammalian cell culture, and animal studies. Conduct laboratory duties independently under general supervision and assist investigators, scientists, and senior laboratory personnel with advanced experimental procedures.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and help resolve technical issues that arise during experiments. Ensure the timely, accurate, and reproducible completion of assigned research projects.
- Participate in the development, optimization, validation, and implementation of new laboratory procedures and modifications to existing protocols. Provide technical guidance and training to students and laboratory personnel on laboratory techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
- Contribute to scientific reports, presentations, manuscripts, and other research-related publications as appropriate.
- Maintain laboratory organization, including receiving and managing supplies, monitoring inventory, organizing storage areas, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Assist with laboratory quality control, regulatory compliance, biosafety, and animal protocol requirements.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all research information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with one year of experience. Advanced (beyond basic lab training will be accepted in lieu of experience as assessed by the hiring Principal Investigator). Effective oral and written communication skills required.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $55,649.99 - $72,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
