The Kettenbach Lab (https://kettenbachlab.org) at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team studying Phosphoprotein Phosphatase in health and disease.


Our lab investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying phosphorylation-dependent signaling in normal cells and tissues, as well as in disease. Protein phosphorylation is an essential regulatory mechanism that controls nearly all aspects of cell division and is commonly dysregulated in human cancers. Protein kinases and phosphatases are the direct effectors of phosphorylation signaling. We are using state-of-the-art approaches in proteomics, biochemistry, and cell biology to functionally dissect signaling networks regulated by the interplay between protein kinases and phosphatases. We are developing methods for quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics and phosphoproteomics to gain novel insights into these complex signaling networks by determining dynamic changes in protein expression, protein-protein interactions, and post-translational modifications.

The candidate will be supported in leading their own projects, pursuing new research directions, applying for fellowships, presenting at scientific meetings, and preparing for a range of career paths.


Key Responsibilities



  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the candidate is expected to lead experimental projects to dissect the role of phosphoprotein phosphatases in health and disease by using and developing quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics and phosphoproteomics approaches.
  • Keep meticulous laboratory records and communicate effectively and transparently about experiments.
  • Train and supervise students in laboratory procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant literature.
  • Contribute to collaborative projects.
  • Participate in weekly meetings, help plan future projects, and foster an inclusive, supportive environment.


Salary and Benefits

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements



  • Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9-based cell line generation, and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics and phosphoproteomics.
  • Experience with research in the field of Phosphoprotein Phosphatases.
  • Ability to work well with colleagues across different backgrounds and experience levels.
