General Job Description Position Overview The Estimating Project Manager leads and manages the estimating process for residential and commercial construction projects, ensuring accurate cost estimates, timely proposal submissions, and effective coordination with internal departments, subcontractors, vendors, and customers while supporting company profitability and operational success. Primary Responsibilities Lead and manage the estimating process for assigned projects, ensuring accurate and timely completion of bids and proposals. Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and related documents to determine scope, labor, material, and equipment requirements. Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for residential and commercial construction projects. Coordinate with operations, purchasing, project management, field teams, subcontractors, and vendors to gather pricing and project information. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements. Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities during the estimating process. Maintain estimating databases, historical cost records, and bid documentation. Participate in pre-bid meetings, project walkthroughs, and customer discussions as required. Assist with project turnover meetings and transition awarded projects to operations and project management teams. Ensure all estimates and proposals comply with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable codes and regulations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Monitor market pricing, labor trends, and material availability to support accurate forecasting and estimating. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating procedures, systems, and processes. Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Education None Minimum Years of Experience 2-4 Specific Qualifications Required Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles, project management practices, and construction processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and construction documents. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. High level of organization, attention to detail, and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with subcontractors, vendors, and customers. Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Office Suite, and construction management systems. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams. Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control, and risk assessment. Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks. English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties. Spanish speaking preferred. Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, and business partners. Education/Experience Minimum of 3-5 years of estimating, project management, or construction industry experience preferred. Residential, commercial, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or construction industry experience preferred. High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred. Relevant industry certifications or licenses preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties. Physical Requirements Hand movements, including typing. Travel as required to support project and operational needs. Work in a typical office environment, sitting at a desk and performing prolonged computer work, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Maintain dependable transportation and consistent, reliable attendance to meet customer service and operational needs. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established company policies and procedures. Ability to work overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekends as business needs require. Communicate in person, by phone, and electronically, including on a tablet, smartphone, and other office technology. Perform all work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position. Lift, carry, push, and pull at least 25 pounds. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or work authorization support.
