What You Will Do in This Role?
  • Apply computer systems analysis techniques and consult with users to determine hardware, software, and system functional specifications for inspection and measurement solutions.
  • Design, develop, document, and modify computer programs and prototypes for CNC metrology equipment and automated inspection systems based on user and system design specifications.
  • Create automated measurement programs for manual and CNC metrology equipment, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency.
  • Design and procure functional gaging when opportunities for gaging in lieu of measurement are identified.
  • Develop documentation for programs, fixtures, and gages to deliver turnkey solutions.
  • Report and present inspection results to technical audiences, explaining data implications for parts and projects.
  • Research and propose metrology innovations to continuously improve processes.
What You Will Need for This Role? Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of inspection or metrology experience in medical, consumer, automotive, or aerospace industries.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with CNC CMM software (e.g., Polyworks, PC-DMIS, Calypso).
  • Experience with 3D scan inspection software (e.g., Polyworks, GOM Inspect).
  • Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, ProE, NX, Creo).
  • Ability to create work instructions, training documentation, or standards.
  • Ability to travel domestically approximately 2 trips per year (3-7 days per trip).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal education in Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, or Computer Science.
  • Certifications in inspection or metrology (e.g., CWI, NDT).
  • Experience designing, testing, and modifying computer programs related to machine operating systems.
  • Familiarity with risk-based design strategies such as DFM, DFA, DFMEA.
  • Experience designing for agency certifications (e.g., ISO, IEC, AAMI, UL, CE, CISPR, FCC, FDA).
  • Prior experience with project management software and Agile/Scrum environments (e.g., Jira, Monday).
  • Experience in healthcare product development or other federally regulated fields.
  • Industry certifications in software development or automation systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with confidence in designing and constructing custom workholding.
  • Ability to mentor and explain methods and processes to peers with diverse backgrounds.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop effective technical solutions.
  • Proficiency in systems analysis and software development related to automated inspection processes.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry developments.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
