We are seeking a highly experienced Platform Engineer to support the design, automation, deployment, integration, sustainment, and modernization of secure cloud and platform environments for advanced Navy and DoD capabilities. This role emphasizes Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting, automation, AWS GovCloud engineering, and secure platform operations across enterprise, cloud, containerized, and hybrid environments. The candidate will work with cross-functional engineering, cybersecurity, development, and operational teams to build and maintain scalable, repeatable, secure, and mission-ready platform solutions. The role requires strong technical judgment, hands-on engineering capability, and the ability to support both tactical implementation and strategic platform modernization across dynamic mission environments.

This role requires in-person support.

Duties:



  • Lead and support the design, implementation, automation, configuration, integration, and sustainment of secure platform environments across AWS GovCloud, enterprise, containerized, and hybrid architectures.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Infrastructure as Code solutions to automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and sustainment of cloud and platform resources.
  • Use scripting and automation to streamline platform operations, reduce manual processes, improve repeatability, support troubleshooting, and enable efficient system administration across mission environments.
  • Support AWS GovCloud infrastructure development and operations by configuring, integrating, monitoring, and troubleshooting compute, storage, networking, identity, security, logging, and automation services.
  • Engineer and maintain operating system, identity, authentication, networking, storage, and application hosting environments to support secure and reliable mission platform operations.
  • Support containerized application platforms and orchestration environments by assisting with deployment, configuration, scaling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and sustainment activities.
  • Apply cybersecurity and platform hardening practices by supporting secure configuration management, vulnerability remediation, patching, access control, compliance activities, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Provide senior-level technical leadership across cross-functional teams by troubleshooting complex platform issues, coordinating engineering priorities, documenting technical solutions, mentoring team members, and communicating technical risks and recommendations to program stakeholders.


Required Education:




  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience




Required Experience:



  • Experience supporting platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, systems administration, DevOps, infrastructure automation, or related technical infrastructure roles.
  • Experience supporting enterprise, cloud, containerized, hybrid, or application hosting environments.
  • Experience using scripting, automation, configuration management, or Infrastructure as Code concepts to support technical operations.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, sustainment, and modernization activities.
  • Experience working with operating systems, networking, identity services, authentication, storage, and application infrastructure.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, access control, system hardening, vulnerability management, and secure configuration practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across platform, infrastructure, application, network, cloud, and security environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to engineering, cybersecurity, program, and operational stakeholders.


Preferred Skills and Experience:



  • Experience engineering, deploying, automating, and sustaining infrastructure within AWS GovCloud environments.
  • Experience with AWS services including EC2, Security Groups, S3, EBS, EFS, Route 53, IAM policies and roles, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Lambda, ELB, Availability Zones, VPCs, subnets, route tables, endpoints, NACLs, Transit Gateways, VPC peering, AWS Directory Services, AWS Workspaces, and AWS CLI.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using tools and formats such as CloudFormation, YAML, JSON, Git-based workflows, and related automation practices.
  • Experience using scripting and programming languages such as Bash, Python, PowerShell, and JavaScript to automate platform deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and operational tasks.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, particularly RHEL and Amazon Linux, as well as Windows Server environments.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as application containers, OpenShift Container Platform, Kubernetes, and service mesh environments.
  • Experience with foundational infrastructure services and security concepts including DNS, PKI, TLS, LDAP, Active Directory, authentication, authorization, OpenID Connect, SAML, and single sign-on.
  • Experience with networking concepts including ports and protocols, firewall rules, basic routing, VPC networking, subnets, route tables, endpoints, NACLs, Transit Gateways, and VPC peering.
  • Experience supporting web application infrastructure using web servers, reverse proxies, APIs, databases, authentication services, Apache, NGINX, PostgreSQL, SQL, Node.js, React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with system hardening, STIG implementation, vulnerability scanning, patching, ACAS remediation, endpoint security, and HBSS.


Must have current/active Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $135,000.00-$155,000.00 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
