At the DSE Gear Lab, you will contribute to the production ofcutting edge geartrain components made to the highestqualitystandards forelectricpropulsion applications.Working in a dynamic and fast-paced prototype environment, we look to you to developand executeefficientsetupsofourCNCequipmenttomeet design engineering objectives.The ideal candidate will autonomouslyoperatemachinery andeducatejunioroperatorson precision turningpractices andcollaborate with manufacturing and design engineers.Theselected candidatewill learnand perform various gear cutting techniques, thus an open mindset and willingness to learnwill be an asset.

This position will be stationed within Tesla'sgreaterPrototype Machine Shopwhich servesengineering initiatives across the entire organization, including pre-production vehicles, energy systems, artificial intelligence, and other future-shaping products. Working alongside the Prototype Machine Shop team, opportunities to assist in these adjacent efforts will be present. • Program, setup andoperate CNC B-Axis Mill-Turns and other lathes in a low-volume & high-mix workflow
• Work closely with engineersand project stakeholdersto provide crucial input on design for manufacturability
• Cut materials, build tooling, set fixtures,write,prove,and run programs,deburr,and finish parts
• Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials

• Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work
• Collaborate closelyand provide direct feedback with clear communication to management, engineers,Gear Lab technicians,and other machinists on design, process, project status and outcomes
• Tracking and documentation of machining processes and results when necessary
• Maintain shop equipment as required

• 5+ years of CNC lathe programming experience with 3+ years of B-axis mill-turn programming experience, or demonstration of exceptional ability
• Proficiencyin programming methods including G-code,conversationalinterfaces,and CAMsoftware
• Demonstrated experience producinghigh-quality steel components(experience with gears a plus)
• Abilitytobalance workload across multiple work centers simultaneously
• Ability to identify,procure, and implementeffective tooling and work-holding solutions
• Proficient with basic shop tools and machines (manual mill, engine lathe, drill press, bandsaw, belt sanders, hand tools etc.)and manualinspection tools (calipers,micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges,etc.)
• Able to read and interpretengineering drawings,documents,and GD&T
• Flexible,with ability to work overtime on short notice based on strategic needs of the company
• Excellent communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information through verbal, email, text, phone, Microsoft Office suite, and other digital communication platforms
