What to Expect
Improve customer experience of Tesla vehicles by improving field reliability of Autopilot hardware. Own failure analysis, root cause, containment and corrective action for Autopilot HW across all vehicle lines while maintaining a close partnership with Autopilot HW, SW, FW, systems integration, sensing, supplier industrialization and related engineering teams. This is a highly hands onhands-on individual contributor role, involving . primarily bench and lab work, with supporting fleet and service data analysis. You own the subsystem end to end, from first failure through validated countermeasures.

What You'll Do
  • Investigate field failures on the Autopilot Hardware PCBA (SoC, memory, Ethernet, IMU, powerand related ICs) across all vehicle platforms
  • Use lab and board tools to isolate issuesonAutopilotPCBAswith oscilloscopes, Xray, CT, thermal imagingandCAN/kernel/SoC logs
  • Applyfirst principlesand 5-Why thinking to reach rootcause andengage suppliers for FA when necessary
  • Drive containment and corrective actions through implementation and validation with your team and partner orgs
  • Use Python and SQL to review field data and find trends to prioritize investigations (20% data,80% hands-on hardware)
  • Collaborate across Autopilot HW, SW, FW, systems integration, sensing, supplier industrialization and others depending on the nature of the failure mode investigation
  • Clearly communicate findings, risks, and status topeersandleadership&help the team track root-cause,countermeasure, repair rates and reliability trends

What You'll Bring
  • 1-5 years hands-on experience in failure analysis, reliability, electronics debug, or related embedded/electro-mechanical hardware. New gradswithstrong hardwarebackground,co-op or internship experienceare alsowelcome
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
  • Familiaritywithcircuit-levelcomponentsi.e.voltage regulators,PMICs, Ethernetswitches, IMU/sensors, etc.andreading/interpretingdatasheetstoramp quickly on new parts
  • Hands-on PCBA or electrical-system debug and testing
  • Familiaritywith Linux, Python, and SQL for board interaction, data review, and fleet queries
  • Strong attention to detail, structured problem-solving, and clear written/verbal communication
  • Able to work on-site in the lab most days (primarily in-person, limited remote flexibility)
  • Manufacturing, supplier or NPI exposure(helpful, not required)
  • Experience with DDR/high-speed interfaces, Ethernet or automotive electronics(helpful, not required)
  • Student competition or substantial personal HW projects (helpful, not required)

    Expected Compensation
    $91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
