HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE...

As a Sanitation Tech., you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and food-safe manufacturing environment. By ensuring equipment, production areas, and storage spaces are properly cleaned and sanitized, you will help support product quality, food safety compliance, and efficient production operations. Your commitment to sanitation and safety standards will directly contribute to the success of our operation and the production of high-quality food products.

WHAT YOU WILL DO...

Custodial/Cleaning performs custodial and cleaning work including: *Dusting furniture, walls, fixtures, or equipment; cleaning/waxing floors, and cleaning common area kitchens and rest rooms *Operating cleaning equipment (e.g., steam cleaners, floor polishers) *Collecting and disposing of garbage and recycling according to sanitation and operational

  • Clean and sanitize manufacturing equipment, production areas, and storage areas in accordance with sanitation procedures and food safety standards.

  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment for thorough cleaning and sanitation.

  • Ensure all equipment parts remain properly stored with their designated equipment during the cleaning process.

  • Remove waste and dispose of materials in appropriate designated containers.

  • Operate power washers safely and effectively.

  • Minimize water usage during cleaning activities to control overspray and reduce potential cross-contamination.

  • Ensure motors, electrical panels, plugs, and other sensitive equipment are properly protected during cleaning activities.

  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation SOPs, USDA requirements, PPE standards, and safety procedures.

  • Safely handle and use sanitation chemicals while following proper storage and usage guidelines.

  • Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when required.

  • Operate compactors for inedible and corrugated waste as assigned.

  • May operate pallet jacks and other approved material handling equipment.

  • Monitor equipment and report malfunctions, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards to supervisors or maintenance personnel.

  • Maintain clean floors and work areas by removing food products, waste materials, and debris from production areas.

  • Ensure drain covers remain in place and proper waste segregation procedures are followed.

  • Store hoses, equipment, and sanitation tools properly after use.

  • Support sanitation activities across multiple production areas as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE... (MUST HAVE)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally climb stairs throughout the shift.

  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to push, pull, and move materials and equipment as needed.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work flexible hours based on operational needs.

  • Ability to wear and properly utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE... (NICE TO HAVE)
  • Previous sanitation experience in food manufacturing, food processing, or warehouse environments.

  • Bilingual communication skills.

  • Ability to read and understand English.

  • Experience working with sanitation chemicals, power washers, and cleaning equipment.

  • Familiarity with USDA regulations, GMPs, HACCP principles, and food safety programs.

  • Experience operating pallet jacks or waste compactors.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely disassemble and reassemble equipment.

  • Ability to support sanitation activities across multiple departments and production lines.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing, warehouse, and refrigerated production environments.

  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, sanitation equipment, moving machinery, and wet working conditions.

  • Moderate to loud noise levels throughout the facility.

  • Slippery floor conditions may be present.

  • Requires constant attention to surroundings and adherence to safe work practices.

  • Flexible scheduling may be required to support operational and sanitation needs.

Responsible for the daily cleaning of the manufacturing and general storage areas of the facility. Will be required to disassemble and re-assemble equipment to complete the cleaning process. All parts to remain with the equipment after cleaning process. Will be required to remove waste from the areas and place in the designated containers. Must at all times work in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. Must insure that GMPs, PPE and Safety regulations are followed at all times. Follows all good housekeeping practices, sanitation SOPs and adheres to any USDA guidelines for food/sanitation. Operates Compactors (inedible and corrugated), (understands Hog Farmer, Inedible bin requirements); May operate pallet jacks.

Requirement Understands during cleaning; the equipment has moving parts and must ensure safety and quality always comes first. Does not stick/place any parts of the body into any moving part of the equipment. Must adhere to proper operating sanitation procedures for the equipment. Must understand that chemicals are being used to clean/sanitize, the proper use and storage of chemicals and PPE involved. Demonstrates a good mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to communicate Benefit if read and write English (Bilingual Preferred)

  • Stand, reach, bend and (climb steps/stairs occasionally); Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.

  • Works well with others; ability to meet required demands on work/quality to support sanitation process. Works with minimum supervision.

  • Understands and can demonstrate workable knowledge of chemical usage/cleaning

  • Evaluation of performance is to take place within first 120 hours of beginning job.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the team member works around moving machinery. The team member is exposed to hot/cold/refrigerated conditions, loud noise, and wet floors, which may become slippery. Team member must be aware of their surroundings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following
  • Ensure product on the floor is squeegee/scooped and placed in appropriate disposal bin. It is essential the person avoids placing food products/ gloves, wraps and any other article down the drain. Ensure drain covers are in place. All inedible food products in yellow trash bins and other non-food inedible products in gray trash bins.

  • Ensure the use of water in cleaning will be minimized to control overspray and possible cross contamination. Ensures all motors/electrical panels/plugs are properly covered with plastic bags

  • Ensure that equipment is properly disassembled/assembled for cleaning. Ensure all parts remain with the equipment and stored properly. All hoses properly stored after use.

  • Able to follow and perform lock out tag out procedures.

Able to follow GMPs and adhere to USDA guidelines for food/sanitary guidelines
  • Operate controls of equipment and reports any malfunctions or potential hazards to supervisor

  • Must be able to operate power washers in safe and timely manner

  • Reports all equipment concerns to supervisor or maintenance team members. It is essential they know to potentially avoid late start-ups in production.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by lead or supervisor.

  • Reports to workstation properly dressed with correct PPE on time.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Documentation and Procedures

The following procedures will be performed:

  • 1. Safety Rules and GMPs in area.

  • 2. Chemical Products/MSDS; Safety Training, Chemical Foaming/Power Washer Guides

  • 3. SSOPs on equipment cleaning and Sanitation Personal Protective Equipment

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Read and demonstrate understanding of cleaning chemicals used in their job role

  • Understand they will be required to help out on other lines and areas as sanitation activities are required

  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift occasional heavy loads (50 lbs.)

  • Must be able to work flexible hours based upon needs of Operation

  • Must be able to operate Power Washers for cleaning if required

COMPENSATION

Pay: $19.50 + $2.00 shift differential p/hr

Shift: 3rd - (10:00PM-6:30AM)

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
