This is an exciting role that requires an individual with strong accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to provide clear and insightful financial reporting. The successful candidate will be proactive and analytical, with excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization. This position requires flexibility in a fast-moving environment and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing General Ledger (GL) accounting functions, cash forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic business decisions. This role will involve close collaboration with operational teams, accounting departments, and senior management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The incumbent will directly support month-end close activities, prepare comprehensive cash forecasts, and deliver actionable financial insights to drive informed decision-making across the organization.

This role will be a direct report to the Director, Finance.

Responsibilities

General Ledger Management & Month-End Close

  • Assist with month-end close procedures, including account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and review
  • Maintain and monitor GL accounts; identify and investigate discrepancies and unusual items
  • Coordinate with operational teams to gather necessary information for accurate GL entries and account classifications

Cash Forecasting & Working Capital Management

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and rolling cash flow forecasts; update regularly based on actual results and revised assumptions
  • Analyze historical cash patterns and trends to improve forecast accuracy
  • Monitor and report on working capital metrics including receivables, payables, and inventory impact on cash
  • Identify cash flow risks and opportunities; prepare recommendations for management
  • Support liquidity planning and cash position optimization

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct variance analysis for actual results; identify and explain significant deviations
  • Prepare clear, concise management reports and financial dashboards that communicate key financial metrics and insights
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial inputs for management presentations

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to reporting deadlines and internal control requirements
  • Participate in accounting system implementations and process improvements
  • Support PeopleSoft and other financial systems optimization
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain detailed documentation of GL processes, assumptions, and forecasting methodologies

Required Core Competencies

  • General Ledger Accounting: Hands-on GL experience with account reconciliation, close procedures, and financial reporting
  • Financial Analysis: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, variances, and financial drivers
  • Critical Thinking & Business Acumen: Forward-looking perspective with ability to connect financial data to business strategy
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to accounting work with commitment to accuracy
  • Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences

  • Team Collaboration: Works effectively with internal stakeholders at all levels
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or 8+ years of related accounting/finance experience)
  • Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on General Ledger accounting experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience preparing monthly financial close and reporting packages
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP systems
  • Experience in the telecommunications or utility industry

Salary

Pay range (commensurate with skills and experience): $76,244 - $115,571 Annually
