Avenal Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a Lube Technician / Fueler to join our team in Avenal, CA!

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM, with occasional Saturday work as needed (overtime)

Compensation: Starting pay is $29-32per hour, based on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid vacation, and more.

Lube Technician Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, including loaders, dozers, compactors, excavators, haul trucks, and support vehicles.
  • Fuel heavy equipment and vehicles in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Check and service engine oil, hydraulic fluid, coolant, transmission fluid, differential oils, and grease points.
  • Lubricate equipment components according to manufacturer maintenance schedules.
  • Inspect equipment for leaks, excessive wear, damage, and other mechanical issues during service.
  • Replace filters, including oil, fuel, hydraulic, air, and coolant filters.
  • Monitor and maintain fluid inventories and fuel storage systems.
  • Complete daily service records, maintenance logs, fuel usage reports, and inspection documentation.
  • Assist mechanics with repairs and maintenance projects as needed.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment deficiencies to maintenance supervisors.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance, fueling, and lube service areas.
  • Follow all landfill safety procedures, environmental compliance requirements, and OSHA regulations.
  • Respond to equipment service calls in active landfill operating areas.
  • Safely operate service trucks, fuel trucks, lubrication equipment, and related maintenance tools.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of service vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of oils, fuels, filters, and other regulated wastes.
  • Support efforts to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • Ability to work effectively in various outdoor conditions, including exposure to weather elements, physical labor, and a dynamic work environment.
