Inotiv is seeking a Histology Technician to join our lab in Maryland Heights, MO
Responsibilities and Duties
- Follow SOPs and other applicable laboratory or company procedures
- Maintain confidential information consistent with Inotiv corporate policy

- Specific
- Minimum level of being proficient in the processing of tissue samples according to laboratory protocols
- Minimum level of being proficient in the skill of embedding tissue into paraffin blocks
- Minimum level of being proficient microtomy and to generate quality tissue sections
- Accurately mount tissue specimens on glass slides
- Examine blocks and or slides to identify anatomical landmarks macroscopically or microscopically to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements
- Document and maintain study records to comply with appropriate regulatory requirements
- Review and understand data associated with the study
Position Requirements
- Certified Histology Technician HT or HTL(ASCP), ASCP board certified eligible or have a minimum of one year of relevant industry experience
- High School Diploma or GED, with lab and GLP experience preferred
- Required experience must also reflect the Skills and Responsibilities outlined below
- Attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills
- Critical thinking skills to recognize problems and initiate probable solution ideas
- Ability to multitask
- Provide technical input as appropriate
- Perform calibration of laboratory equipment as assigned
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with team members, pathologists and other Inotiv staff members
- Maintain good working skills while working towards or under a given deadline
- Ability and desire to learn new methods or workflows
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn new laboratory software
Performance requirements
- Demonstrate an understanding of SOPs and Good Laboratory Practice regulations (21CFR,Part58) as these relate to study-specific services provided, this job description and general facility operations
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of relevant computer systems, specifically MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Document all GLP, GCP, and process training, provide a CV and ensure that his/her training file is kept current
- Documenting all study and laboratory activities as required for compliance and to maintain study data files and specimens in an organized and confidential fashion
Physical Activity
- Moderate physical activity This position will require frequent walking, sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, carrying, heavy lifting (max. 50lbs), reaching while standing, gripping and twisting hand movements, finger control and other general repetitive motions (for more than four [4] hours per day)
- Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required.
- Ability to read and understand applicable materials
- Manual dexterity to operate assigned laboratory equipment and computers
- Able to read and interpret test results and instrument specifications
Working Conditions
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work or laboratory environment
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include use of protective equipment
- The noise level is usually moderate
- This position will frequently be involved with sharp, solvents, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, flammable materials and bio-hazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological material (which may include HPB positive specimens), immunization to Hepatitis B and/or other diseases may be a requirement.
