3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Top Required Skills
  • Understanding and hands-on experience in an instructional/training role.
  • Understanding and prior experience with implementing/using Adult Learning Theory and instructional design principles.
  • Advanced skills in Articulate Storyline, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to process information quickly and provide clear, accurate answers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, with varying degrees of complexity, at once.
Soft Skill Requirements
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to build trust, obtain buy-in, and gain support for development projects.
  • Equally effective working independently or in a team environment.
Nice to Have Skills
  • Operational knowledge and/or practical experience in Power Generation, Electric Transmission, or Electric Distribution is preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign is preferred.
High Level Project Overview

The Virginia Training Development Team is seeking three Contract Training Specialists to support the design, development, revision, and maintenance of training materials. Deliverables may include presentations, participant guides, knowledge assessments, hands-on performance evaluations, computer-based training modules, and other instructional resources.

Contract Training Specialists collaborate with training instructors, business unit subject matter experts, and external partners to apply the ADDIE instructional design model throughout the training development process. This role is responsible for ensuring training materials align with defined learning objectives, established development standards, and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.

The position supports training programs across Power Generation, Electric Transmission, Electric Distribution, and Operations & Support, as well as other training initiatives as business needs arise.

Note: This is a training development role and does not include instructional delivery or classroom facilitation responsibilities.

Required Years of Experience

Minimum 2 years of directly related experience in classroom and/or web-based training needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance.

Education

Minimum High School Diploma Required. Bachelor's Degree in Education or Adult Learning is preferred but not required.

Industry Experience

Operational knowledge and/or practical experience in Power Generation, Electric Transmission, or Electric Distribution is preferred.

Preferred Interview Process Overview

Preference will be for onsite/in-person interviews, so candidates should be prepared for an onsite interview. However, this is subject to change to a Teams/virtual interview based upon need/manager preference upon candidate review/selection.
