Northwestern University is seeking temporary Remote Part-time Seasonal Readers.

Temporary Job Description:

Northwestern's Office of Undergraduate Admission seeks part-time team members to review first-year and transfer applications. This is a remote position that requires sound judgment and utmost discretion in the review of confidential admission materials. As a part-time reader, you will provide critical support in advancing Northwestern's undergraduate enrollment goals and will join a collaborative, student-centered staff who celebrate innovative approaches in higher ed, and who find joy and pride in admissions work.

Candidates must be able to:

  • Attend training virtually in December and be available to for 25 hours a week in January - February
  • Assess academic preparedness for Northwestern by evaluating prospective students' academic records
  • Review letters of support, essays, and extracurricular activities to determine institutional fit
  • Complete the evaluation of 75 files (25 hours) per week

Please note that we cannot consider candidates for this position who are parents, guardians, or siblings of a high school junior or senior, independent college consultants, or employees of other undergraduate institutions in positions related to undergraduate admission

*Will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Uncompromising commitment to discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software
  • Independent time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Willingness to internalize feedback and quickly adapt to suggested modifications
  • Familiarity with selective admissions and/or secondary education preferred
  • Reside in the United States

In addition to salary, this temporary position is eligible for paid time off and paid sick time in accordance with Northwestern University policies. This position is not eligible for other benefits offered to regular staff positions.
