Part-Time Compliance Support Specialist

Hourly Rate: $27.19

This position is an on-campus, part-time, between 19 and 27.5 hours per week appointment based in Champaign, Illinois.

The Compliance Support Specialist supports the Compliance Office in ensuring adherence to college policies and procedures and in helping the institution meet its compliance goals and objectives. While this position contributes to a broad range of campus compliance initiatives involving students, faculty, staff, and visitors, its primary focus is coordinating and administering Department of Transportation (DOT) and Commercial Driver's License (CDL)-related compliance requirements, including the coordination of federally mandated drug and alcohol testing programs.

Direct experience in higher education compliance is not required. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can learn specialized processes, follow established procedures, manage confidential information, maintain accurate records, and consistently follow tasks through to completion.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Assist with the administration of policies, procedures, records, documentation, communications, and training activities related to Department of Transportation (DOT) and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) compliance.
  • Assist the college's compliance with ADA, Workers Compensation Laws, and OSHA by:

    • Conducting intake meetings for ADA and Workers Compensation matters and maintaining related documentation and records.
    • Assist with the interactive process by coordinating meetings, maintaining records, tracking required documentation, and supporting implementation of approved accommodations.
    • Coordinating with worker's compensation insurance provider and tracking follow-up actions and required documentation.
    • Assist with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) audits, Hazard Communication Plan updates, and related OSHA documentation and recordkeeping activities.


  • Assists with investigations of allegations of violations of policies and laws covering Title IX, EEO, VAWA, Student Conduct, ADA, and OSHA by:

    • Acting as a note-taker and providing logistical support during meetings with complainants, respondent(s), and witnesses.
    • Documenting and verifying interview notes.
    • Maintaining confidentiality of investigation.
    • Organizing investigation records and assisting with report preparation and document management.


  • Contributes to team effort by:

    • Accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Assist Compliance Office tasks in all other functions.




Minimum Requirements:



  • Associate's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting. The background check review includes, but is not limited to, exclusionary offenses per the Illinois School Code and Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and time management skills; ability to be flexible and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to hand confidential materials judiciously.
  • Strong organizational, records management, and document-tracking skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential records and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to learn and apply compliance-related procedures, regulations, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Experience supporting administrative, compliance, human resources, legal, or case management functions preferred.
