Overview

As part of the QP Manufacturing and Construction Engineering organization you will put your engineering and problem solving skills to the test, seeing your solutions put into action in real time with a mix of assignments ranging from a few days to several weeks to complete.

This will be in support of VPM construction. This is truly the best opportunity to apply engineering skills in support of a state-of-the-art nuclear submarine construction facility.

This position is ideal for the highly motivated individual who enjoys getting their hands dirty; working directly with production tradespeople and management, developing designs from inception to use on a variety of interesting applications. Job assignments will include design development and production support of:

    Lifting and handling fixture designs and process support
  • Lifting & handling arrangements - learning state-of-the-art crane capabilities and heavy load transporter operations
  • Lifting and handling drawings and build strategies
  • Lifting and handling Risk mitigation plans
  • Design and implementation of special tooling

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI location.



Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil (Structural) Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense
  • 0-4 years of post graduate engineering experience

Preferred:

  • Experience and knowledge in submarine design and/or construction
  • Knowledge of lifting/handling methods and/or structural fabrication techniques
  • NX, Teamcenter, SOLIDWORKS, and/or AUTOCAD experience in 3D model manipulation, structural analysis, and 2D drawing development
  • Experience with EB Manufacturing Engineering Documents or Lifting and Handling Procedures

  • Highly motivated
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Drive to be successful, and excellent attention to detail while being comfortable working in a dynamic construction environment
  • A demonstrated ability in multi-tasking and technical project management is desirable
