DESCRIPTION

The Gift Shop Cashier will provide excellent customer service in the Hospital Gift Shop by answering questions, directing customers, and making recommendations. Process customer purchases using a POS system. Stock assigned area, take inventory, and maintain assigned area in a neat and orderly manner. In the absence of the Manager, ring out registers and secure the day's receipts. Monitor facility and workloads. Responsible for receiving, distributing, and merchandising of merchandise from daily deliveries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • One (1) year of cashiering experience, preferably in a food service setting.

  • Superb customer service skills and excellent communications skills.

  • Proven ability to identify and use POS data management systems accurately.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow all cashiering policies and procedures.

  • Proven experience in cash handling and ability to operate electronic cash register. Strong retail math skills to calculate retail prices, discounts, markups and markdowns.

  • Dependability and punctuality in a retail environment. Proven ability to work independently, to organize, and to prioritize workload effectively.

  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $55,165 - $65,960 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.42 - $31.59

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
