Responsibilities

Howmet Fastening Systems is looking for a R&D Machinist to work with Product Design Engineering, supporting new product development, performing machining, assembly and troubleshooting of pre-production, low volume specials and made to order customer special requests. This position reports to the Lead Design Engineer, in the Kingston, NY fastener installation tooling manufacturing facility.

Born from many well-known and long-standing brands, Howmet Fastening Systems, headquartered in Torrance, California, is the premier designer and manufacturer of aerospace and industrial fasteners, latches, fluid fittings and installation tools. Our products are used nose to tail on commercial and military aircraft, as well as on jet engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, wind turbines, solar power systems, and construction and industrial equipment.

Job duties and Responsibilities:

  • Machining of engineering pre-production components;

  • Modification of existing products for special applications;

  • Assembly and test of experimental installation equipment;

  • Recommend engineering improvements to enhance product function and ease of manufacture;

  • Fabricate parts for the repair of manufacturing equipment;

  • Assist manufacturing in special fixes required to meet production requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits/Salary:

  • The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation.

  • The annual salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Basic Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years' experience in manual and CNC lathes, mills and grinding operation.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;

  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic systems:

  • Experience with CAM programming
