Torch Technologies is seeking a highly experienced Lead Senior Systems Design Engineer to lead and contribute to the architectural design, development, and integration of complex systems for defense and aerospace applications. This role involves significant technical leadership, strategic planning, and the application of advanced engineering principles across the system lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and architecture of complex systems, subsystems, and components, ensuring alignment with program requirements, mission objectives, and technical constraints.
  • Conduct in-depth system analysis, trade studies, and requirements decomposition to optimize system performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Develop and maintain system specifications, interface control documents, and design documentation, ensuring rigorous adherence to engineering standards and processes.
  • Perform advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis to predict system behavior, evaluate performance, and identify potential design issues.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, providing technical expertise and oversight on design activities, problem-solving, and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, test, and operations, to ensure seamless integration and verification of system designs.
  • Lead technical reviews, design discussions, and presentations to internal and external stakeholders, articulating design rationale and addressing technical concerns.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the system design and development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to proposals, white papers, and research initiatives, demonstrating thought leadership and innovation in systems design.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in systems engineering and apply them to ongoing projects.

Job Qualifications::

  • US Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution. Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in systems design, architecture, and integration for complex systems, preferably in defense, aerospace, or a related high-tech industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying systems engineering principles across the full system lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, development, integration, test, and deployment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including experience leading technical teams, mentoring junior engineers, and driving successful project outcomes.
  • Experience with various system architectures (e.g., open architectures, distributed systems) and associated design considerations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, Top Secret/SCI.
