Responsibilities

NV5 is looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Project Accountant to join our growing team in Cary, North Carolina. In this role, you'll partner closely with Project Managers to help ensure projects are set up, managed, billed, and closed efficiently throughout their entire lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, building strong internal relationships, and contributing to the financial success of impactful projects.

    Partner with Project Managers to establish new projects in Deltek Vantagepoint ensuring project setup aligns with contract requirements, billing terms, and revenue recognition methods.
  • Enter project budgets and upload all required documentation during project setup.
  • Maintain project records throughout the project lifecycle, including processing change orders and additional task authorizations.
  • Review and analyze project reports to identify and resolve revenue generation errors and maintain project data integrity.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to monitor and manage unbilled project activity.
  • Process labor adjustments as needed to maintain accurate project financials.
  • Support project closeout activities, ensuring all transactions are completed and projects are properly finalized.
  • Prepare monthly invoices for Project Manager review and approval while ensuring compliance with client billing requirements.
  • Finalize and distribute invoices to clients in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with accounts receivable reviews and collection efforts to support healthy project cash flow.
  • Provide additional accounting and project support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, along with strong overall computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate confidently across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service mindset, with the ability to build positive working relationships with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs and processes.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in project accounting, professional services, engineering, architecture, or consulting environments.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision or similar project-based accounting software.
