What You Will Do:

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS)/Nurse Educator is responsible for providing education and supporting professional development for behavioral health clinical nursing staff. This role disseminates evidence-based best practices to enhance nursing care, improve clinical practice, and support positive patient outcomes. The NPDS serves as an educational advisor and facilitator for clinical staff, conducts needs assessments to identify learning gaps, and promotes evidence-based practice across the department. In addition, the NPDS supports orientation and competency validation and assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs using adult learning principles.

Who Should Apply:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience required; five (5) years preferred.
  • Inpatient behavioral health/psychiatric nursing experience is required; medical/surgical nursing is preferred.
  • Specialty certification preferred.
  • Current registered nurse licensure in the state of Maryland required.
  • CPR - Basic CPR Upon Hire required.
