PROCESS ENGINEER

Direct Hire | Leola, PA

Salary: $97,000-$118,000

Onsite | Local Candidates Only - No Relocation

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Process Engineer to support a small, collaborative manufacturing facility. This role will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, and plant leadership to improve manufacturing performance while maintaining a strong focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned manufacturing professional who is comfortable wearing multiple hats, supporting plant operations wherever needed, and stepping into leadership responsibilities when other supervisors are unavailable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process improvement initiatives focused on downtime reduction, scrap reduction, productivity, quality, material usage, and process consistency.
  • Partner closely with Production and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment, process, and operational issues.
  • Analyze manufacturing performance data and implement corrective actions and sustainable process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, process documentation, work instructions, and employee training materials.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, FMEA, root-cause analysis, and other continuous improvement tools.
  • Support equipment upgrades, capital projects, automation, and new manufacturing technologies.
  • Assist with Health, Safety & Environmental activities, including safety tracking, documentation, regulatory compliance, and safety meetings.
  • Help reinforce a strong plant-wide safety culture and identify opportunities to reduce workplace risk.
  • Work closely with plant supervisors and leadership and provide operational coverage when needed.
  • Support shift or department activities in the absence of other supervisors.
  • Participate in cross-functional problem solving and take ownership of issues beyond a narrowly defined engineering scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • 3+ years of Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or similar plant experience.
  • Strong preference for a seasoned manufacturing professional with hands-on plant-floor experience.
  • Experience supporting production, maintenance, equipment reliability, and manufacturing process improvements.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and safe manufacturing practices.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • Strong analytical, root-cause problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a smaller plant environment where team members regularly support one another across functional boundaries.

Preferred Experience

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Automation, PLC, controls, sensors, or manufacturing equipment experience.
  • Experience supporting Health, Safety & Environmental programs.
  • Experience in high-volume or continuous manufacturing.

Industry-specific extrusion or plastics experience is not required. Candidates from other manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

What We're Looking For

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys being close to plant operations and wants to broaden their responsibilities across engineering, production, maintenance, safety, and plant leadership.

We are looking for a collaborative professional who will jump in when needed, support coworkers, and take ownership rather than saying, "That's not my job."

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan
  • Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • AD&D Insurance
