Student Nurse Extern (Winter 2026) - MedStar Washington Hospital Center

Nursing Students! Are you looking for an opportunity to improve your critical thinking and fundamental skills? Come join us at MedStar Washington Hospital Center for our Winter 2026 Student Nurse Extern Cohort!

The Nurse Extern Winter 2026 Cohort will begin on December 14, 2026 and conclude on January 8, 2027. You will be working 36 to 40 hours per week, which will include shift and weekend rotation.

Important dates:

• Official Start Date: Monday, December 14, 2026
• Mandatory In-Person Skills Day: Saturday, December 19, 2026 (may not participate in program if not attending this skills day).
• Date range for entire 4 - week program: 12/14/26 - 1/8/27(Must be available full-time, with no schedule or school conflicts, throughout the program).

Qualifications for position:

Education:
-Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program and in good standing.
-Currently in or entering final year (12 months) of nursing program by December 1, 2026.
-Completion of Nursing Fundamentals by December 1, 2026.

Experience:
None

Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Current Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required.
