IMEG is hiring a Sustainability & Energy New Graduate in Naperville, IL to support sustainable design practice across the company. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one.

As part of the Sustainability & Energy team, you will support work involving energy modeling, daylight analysis, carbon analysis, life cycle cost analysis, LEED/WELL/PHIUS/Green Globes certification support and administration, and CFD analysis. You will also contribute to client decarbonization strategies, technical analysis, quality control, and internal technical development across our Strategic Growth Services practice.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct building performance analyses on projects

  • Consult with clients on strategies to decarbonize and optimize their projects

  • Support projects seeking building certifications, including energy modeling, documentation, and lead certification for the project team

  • Lead sustainable design projects and assist with management of team workload

  • Serve as a technical resource for resolving issues on projects, with assistance from senior staff

  • Assist in making design recommendations and design decisions with support from senior staff

  • Actively participate in the quality control process for team projects

  • Contribute to internal technical development for both large and small projects through the Technical Operations Team

  • Develop technical analysis reports and presentation deliverables, and present to internal and external audiences

What You'll Bring

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent required

  • Internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred

  • Experience and certifications with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Homeland Security in the areas of Incident Command System (ICS) Emergency Management, Emergency Response, and Critical Infrastructure and Assessments preferred

  • Experience with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, personnel, and procedures (e. g. Unified Facilities Code, US Army Corps of Engineers and other guidance and documentation on force protection construction and engineering) preferred

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Energy modeling and analysis of all building types including CFD and Daylighting analysis and Life Cycle Cost Analysis

  • Whole building life-cycle assessments

  • Knowledge and implementation experience of national and local energy conservation codes and local laws

  • Knowledge of federal and regional tax rebate and incentive programs

  • Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Knowledge of operational and embodied carbon

  • Demonstrated aptitude to design/manage major large projects, and often multiple projects concurrently

  • Custom programming/tool generation

  • Post occupancy energy evaluation and measurement and verification

  • Working knowledge of BIM programs

  • Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Salary Range: $76,000-$86,000 per year

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.

Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
