Retail Enterprise Architect
As an Architect specializing in Enterprise Architecture, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-impact, scalable solutions that align with business objectives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, ensuring that technology solutions are in line with business goals and industry best practices.
Your Impact
- Develop and implement enterprise architecture strategies that support business objectives and digital transformation initiatives.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define architecture roadmaps, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Design and optimize enterprise-wide systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions that drive business value.
- Lead architecture reviews, ensuring that solutions adhere to best practices and compliance standards.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Qualifications
Skills & Experience
- Senior hands-on engineering leadership experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, software architecture,
- Experience designing and modernizing complex, business-critical technology platforms.
- Strong background in retail, restaurant, hospitality, point-of-sale, payments, digital commerce, or distributed store systems.
- Demonstrated experience decomposing monolithic applications into modular or microservices-based architectures.
- Experience designing solutions across cloud, on-premises, hybrid, and edge environments.
- Strong understanding of APIs, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, messaging, integration, and data patterns.
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Working knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability, and DevOps practices.
- Experience integrating payment terminals, store peripherals, or other hardware with enterprise applications.
- Understanding of payment security, privacy, resilience, and production-operational requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design reviews, architecture governance, proof-of-concepts, and technical-risk assessments.
- Experience mentoring architects or engineers and providing technical direction across multiple teams.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with Java and modern Java frameworks, including Spring Boot, Micronaut, or comparable technologies.
- Experience with Kafka, Cassandra, distributed messaging, or event-streaming platforms.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of point-of-sale integration standards such as JPOS or OPOS.
- Experience with payment authorization, reconciliation, settlement-related processing, or acquirer integration.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or comparable monitoring and observability platforms.
- Experience applying Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, SOLID, test-driven development, behavior-driven development, and Agile delivery practices.
- Experience supporting technology deployed across a large distributed estate of restaurants or stores.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Additional Information
Salary Range: $136,000 - $190,000 annual salary
