What you will do: Sales and Business Development
- Identify, develop, and support renewable energy sales opportunities within assigned markets, territories, and customer segments.
- Partner with Account Managers, branch sales teams, and sales leadership to expand renewable energy sales within new and existing customer accounts.
- Support opportunities involving commercial and utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems, EV charging infrastructure, and related technologies.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with electrical contractors, solar contractors, engineering, procurement, and construction firms, developers, utilities, manufacturers, and end users.
- Meet customers to understand project requirements, business objectives, timelines, and technical needs.
- Recommend products and solutions that align with customer specifications, project requirements, and business goals.
- Support new business development, customer retention, account expansion, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Maintain an active pipeline of renewable energy opportunities and provide timely updates to sales leadership and internal stakeholders.
- Participate in customer visits, project meetings, trade shows, industry events, training programs, and market-development activities.
Technical and Application Support
- Serve as a renewable energy product and application resource for customers and OneSource associates.
- Provide technical guidance and product recommendations based on customer specifications and project requirements.
- Review project plans, specifications, bills of material, and customer-provided documentation to identify appropriate products and solutions.
- Assist with product substitutions, value-engineering opportunities, and alternative solutions when appropriate.
- Coordinate with manufacturers, vendors, engineers, and other technical resources to address product, design, application, and installation questions.
- Support project design discussions, return-on-investment proposals, construction walkthroughs, and on-site project support when applicable.
- Stay informed about renewable energy products, technologies, market trends, and relevant industry requirements.
- Communicate product updates, technical information, and market developments to customers and internal sales teams.
Customer and Project Support
- Coordinate with customers, vendors, purchasing, project management, sales support, operations, and other internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the preparation and review of quotations, proposals, bills of material, and customer presentations.
- Communicate product availability, lead times, substitutions, and project-related updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor assigned opportunities and help resolve issues that may affect customer satisfaction or project execution.
- Assist with forecasting product demand and communicating inventory needs for strategic renewable energy product lines.
- Help ensure projects are supported accurately and efficiently from the initial opportunity through product delivery.
- Maintain accurate customer, project, and sales-opportunity information in applicable company systems.
- Provide responsive follow-up and maintain ownership of assigned opportunities and customer requests.
Training and Market Development
- Conduct or coordinate renewable energy product and application training for customers and OneSource associates.
- Deliver customer presentations, product demonstrations, workshops, and educational sessions.
- Help Account Managers and branch teams identify renewable energy opportunities within their existing customer portfolios.
- Share product updates, market developments, and competitive insights with sales teams and leadership.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, and vendor partners on campaigns, customer events, and business-development initiatives.
- Promote a consultative, solutions-based approach to renewable energy sales.
Collaboration and Customer Experience
- Work cross-functionally with sales, purchasing, operations, credit, marketing, project management, vendors, and leadership.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with customers, vendors, and internal business partners.
- Build collaborative relationships that support successful customers and project outcomes.
- Support OneSource's commitment to safety, service, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
- Represent OneSource professionally during customer meetings, site visits, vendor events, and industry functions.
- Perform other duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Renewable Energy, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant professional experience will be considered.
- Three to five years of experience in renewable energy, solar, energy storage, EV charging, electrical distribution, electrical construction, or a related industry preferred.
- Experience supporting commercial, industrial, or utility-scale renewable energy projects preferred.
- Experience working with electrical contractors, solar contractors, developers, engineering firms, utilities, manufacturers, or commercial and industrial customers preferred.
- Working knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems, EV charging infrastructure, or related renewable energy technologies.
- Familiarity with electrical products, electrical distribution, project quotations, bills of material, construction drawings, or technical specifications preferred.
- Strong consultative selling, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to assess customer requirements and translate them into practical product and solution recommendations.
- Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, operations, purchasing, project management, vendors, and leadership.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to manage multiple customer requests, project opportunities, and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain alignment with company objectives.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a combination of office, branch, customer, and project-site environments.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use a computer and other standard office equipment.
- Occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, or move through active project environments.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to travel by automobile or air, as needed, to support customers, projects, branches, vendors, training programs, and industry events.
- Customer and project-site visits may require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Location: This role is based in Sacramento, CA Work hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Salary Range:
This is an exempt position with an anticipated annual base salary range of $45,000 to $55,000 for employees working in California. The actual starting salary will be determined based on job-related factors, including experience, qualifications, skills, georaphic location, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in a commission incentive plan. Commission earnings are subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable commission program.
