Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Additional education in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to understand legal terminology, court procedures, and document preparation requirements.
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary, Litigation Secretary, Legal Assistant, or similar legal support professional required.
- Experience supporting attorneys in a law firm, government agency, or public sector legal office.
- Proven experience preparing legal documents, managing case files, coordinating deadlines, and supporting litigation and trial preparation.
- Experience working with case management systems, document management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of court rules, filing procedures, and litigation timelines.
- Experience preparing motions, pleadings, subpoenas, discovery documents, and trial binders.
- Demonstrated ability to support multiple attorneys and manage competing priorities in a high-volume legal environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with legal staff, court personnel, and external parties.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, document preparation, and data entry.
- Ability to review detailed legal documents and case records with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and responsibilities in a fast-paced office environment.
Job Duties
- Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys and legal staff during all phases of case management and trial preparation.
- Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize legal documents, including motions, pleadings, subpoenas, correspondence, and court filings.
- Organize, maintain, and manage legal case files, records, and document repositories.
- Coordinate court dates, filing deadlines, attorney calendars, meetings, and litigation schedules.
- Assist with trial preparation by compiling exhibits, preparing trial binders, organizing evidence, and coordinating case materials.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely completion of legal documents and court submissions.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal information and client records.
- Support multiple legal professionals while ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with court requirements.
