Summary of position/daily activities:
AEM is seeking a business analyst & tester that understands the customer's business requirements and business process management and then translates them to system requirements. The business analyst & tester designs and documents workflow, manages and provides solutions to new business unit ideas, trends, and concepts appropriately through the latest technological paths. The business analyst & tester documents test cases, manages and executes testing of systems, and assists with end user testing and acceptance. The business analyst & tester helps manage system implementations and ensures quality standards are met.
Key duties include:
- Collaborate with customers, SMEs, business stakeholders, and IT teams to understand needs, goals, and constraints.
- Gather and analyze requirements through interviews, workshops, surveys, prototypes, and document reviews.
- Analyze business processes and identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, mock-ups, and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate requirements review and validation with client, business, and development teams.
- Maintain requirements documentation, traceability, and change control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support agile delivery, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and scrum ceremonies.
- Help define project scope, level of effort, and planning assumptions for assigned work.
- Develop test strategies, test cases, scripts, and scenarios aligned to requirements.
- Execute tests, document results, report defects, and support defect prioritization.
- Coordinate with developers and project team members to confirm defect resolution.
- Prepare, manage, and support user acceptance testing with external users.
- Complete regression testing and post-implementation validation as needed.
- Create user documentation, training materials, status updates, and other project documentation.

Basic qualifications/experience (the required qualifications which are critical to be considered for the position:
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any related field from an accredited institution.
- 5-7 years related experience as a business analyst/tester.
- Ability to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship.
- Ability to obtain a clearance. US citizenship required.
- Ability to analyze, understand, and document complex business processes.
- Ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information.
- Attention to detail and the ability to think analytically and exercise judgment to solve problems.
- Effective project management skills. Ability to track several projects simultaneously, work as part of a team and to also work independently.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and various software development lifecycle.
- Experience with JIRA and/or Azure DevOps.
- Advanced skills in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with both client and internal teams.
- Ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
- Ability to provide clear, concise writing on technical topics for non-technical audiences.

Desired skills/certifications (any additional skills desired but not required to be considered for the position):
- Past experience with the U.S. Department of Education, post-secondary education systems, or state/district data collections and/or grants preferred.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) preferred.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
- Consulting experience and client-facing experience preferred.
- Current government security or public trust clearance preferred.
