The Supplier Performance Engineer will evaluate, monitor, and optimize supplier capability and performance. They will work collaboratively with suppliers to ensure that quality, delivery, cost, and technology goals are exceeded. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, communicates, and executes structured and tailored supplier improvement initiatives, delivering measurable gains in supplier performance in quality, delivery, and resilience.
- Contributes to cost, quality, and lead-time improvement by developing true supplier capability while complementing commercial negotiation and technical uplift.
- Guide and support suppliers in resolving quality issues through robust root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assess and develop supplier quality management systems, process capability, and manufacturing readiness, including people, training, tooling, and equipment.
- Research potential suppliers, assess their manufacturing environment, practices, procedures, and capability; Conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organizational and governmental policies and standards.
- Supporting suppliers in improving their performance through process enhancements, implementing process controls, and developing quality assurance plans.
- Generating reports on supplier quality, by monitoring their defect rates and areas that can lead to potential flaws; Guide suppliers to reduce defect rates.
- Lead the supplier performance reviews with select panel of suppliers, coordinating outcomes to key business stakeholders.
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical or Quality Engineering.
- 5+ years of proven Quality Engineering and/or manufacturing experience with a familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce aerospace components and assemblies.
- Experience in precious metal plating, machining, heat treat, and metallurgy preferred.
- Demonstrated project management skills within manufacturing environment.
- Good interpersonal skills - able to work and influence across all levels of the organization and externally with suppliers to ensure key deliverables are met.
- Excellent technical and quality management skills with adequate experience in Supplier audit, APQP, Lean, 6Sigma, FMEA, 8D, 5Why, DFM, MSA etc.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven experience in Supplier management, supplier development and improvement initiatives
- Proven knowledge and understanding of business correlations of costs, risks and impact
- Proven knowledge of legal and contract aspects of quality, warranty and liability
- Good moderation, communication and presentation skills
- Self-sufficient in problem analysis and drive for results
- Advanced understanding of manufacturing technologies
