The Salvation Army Jacksonville corps is looking for a full-time Ministry Discovery Intern. This is a leadership position which exists to develop individuals in preparation for full-time ministry through officership. This individual will work with the Corps Administrator to learn and experience involvement with and leadership of the daily and weekly responsibilities and programming of the corps.

Essential Functions

  1. Lead and participate in worship and community outreach programs. This would include leading meetings, youth evangelism, music programs, preaching, teaching, and leadership training for corps members.
  2. Represent the Army at community events including service clubs, school functions, and ministerial associations.
  3. Analysis, revision and development of social service and corps programs.
  4. Coordination of seasonal programs.
  5. Participate in pastoral and evangelistic visitation.
  6. Property upkeep and facility preparation for programming.
  7. Assist with fund raising activities.
  8. Work with other staff, public, clients, program participants, parents, community leaders, volunteers, community service workers, outside groups, and community residents.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a Christian with the intent of entering ministry. This individual must be of good character and maturity. Bachelor's degree in theology (or related) or four (4) years in full-time ministry. Combination of education and ministry experience will be considered. Must be willing to adhere to Salvation Army beliefs and practices. Good written and oral communications skills. Be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimum supervision. Demonstrate ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to initiate, develop, and follow through with new and current programs. Computer literate and willing to learn and use new programs that would be beneficial for the ministry. Must be enthusiastic, friendly, and outgoing.
