About This Position

The Hardware Asset Technician is responsible for managing, tracking, preparing, deploying, refurbishing, and supporting hardware assets across Keefe Group's technology portfolio, including kiosks, payment systems, vending equipment, PCs, printers, peripherals, networking components, and related infrastructure. This position serves as a central resource for inventory control, equipment configuration, warranty coordination, shipping operations.

The Hardware Asset Technician works closely with IT staff and warehouses to ensure hardware assets are accurately tracked, properly configured, shipped on schedule, and maintained throughout their operational lifecycle. The role also provides cross-functional coverage during staffing shortages and supports special projects involving equipment deployments, upgrades, and refurbishments.

Asset Management & Inventory Control

  1. Maintain accurate records of all assigned hardware assets throughout their lifecycle.
  2. Track asset ownership, location, status, warranty information, and deployment history.
  3. Manage kiosk key inventories, assignments, replacements, and tracking records.
  4. Utilize asset management systems, spreadsheets, ServiceNow, and administrative tools to maintain asset accuracy.
  5. Identify missing, damaged, expired, or obsolete assets and coordinate corrective actions.
  6. Assist with the development and improvement of asset tracking procedures and standards.

Hardware Deployment & Configuration

  1. Prepare, configure, image, and test equipment prior to deployment.
  2. Support workstation, kiosk, printer, payment device, and peripheral setup activities.
  3. Perform software loading, operating system imaging, and device configuration procedures.
  4. Validate hardware functionality prior to shipment.
  5. Assist with remote configuration and deployment activities.
  6. Support Trinity PC imaging, configuration, and handoff processes.
  7. Coordinate deployment readiness for customer installations, refresh initiatives, and project rollouts.

Edge Refurbishment & Hardware Repair

  1. Diagnose and repair supported hardware components when feasible.
  2. Refurbish returned equipment for redeployment.
  3. Replace defective components and perform preventative maintenance activities.
  4. Test repaired equipment to ensure full operational readiness.
  5. Coordinate manufacturer warranty claims and repair services.
  6. Maintain refurbishment inventory and repair tracking documentation.
  7. Recommend replacement of assets when repair is no longer cost effective.
  8. Back up the other Hats

Shipping, Receiving & Logistics

  1. Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments of hardware assets.
  2. Prepare equipment for shipment using established packaging and shipping procedures.
  3. Work with freight vendors, shipping carriers, warehouses, and receiving locations to ensure successful delivery.
  4. Maintain shipping records and chain of custody documentation.
  5. Track deployment schedules and shipment milestones.
  6. Assist with large-scale equipment rollouts and project deployments.
  7. Coordinate equipment returns, replacements, and recovery efforts.

Warranty & Vendor Coordination

  1. Coordinate warranty repair and replacement activities across multiple manufacturers and vendors.
  2. Track warranty coverage and service eligibility for supported assets.
  3. Work with vendors to facilitate repairs, replacements, and equipment returns.
  4. Maintain documentation related to warranty claims and service activities.
  5. Assist with vendor accountability and quality assurance efforts.
  6. Escalate unresolved warranty concerns to management when necessary.

Cross-Team Operational Support

  1. Provide support across IT Operations, Warehouse.
  2. Assist Warehouse operational team during planned and unplanned staffing shortages.
  3. Support project teams during large deployments and equipment rollouts.
  4. Coordinate work activities with warehouse personnel, technicians
  5. Assist with workload balancing and resource allocation during peak operational periods.
  6. Participate in cross-training efforts to improve organizational resiliency.

Internal Support

  1. Serve as a technical resource for hardware-related inquiries.
  2. Troubleshoot equipment issues prior to escalation.
  3. Coordinate replacement and repair activities to minimize operational downtime.
  4. Participate in incident recovery efforts involving hardware failures or deployment challenges.

What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience supporting computer hardware, peripherals, kiosks, payment systems, printers, or related technology.
  • Experience with inventory management, shipping, receiving, and asset tracking.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems, hardware imaging, and device configuration.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel when required.
  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment, printers, and related hardware.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ServiceNow asset management.
  • Experience supporting correctional technology environments.
  • Experience with kiosk technologies, vending systems, payment devices, or deposit services.
  • Knowledge of freight coordination and logistics processes.
  • Experience with warranty administration and vendor management.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent technical certifications.
  • Experience in equipment refurbishment and repair operations.
