As a Clinical Research Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating clinical research studies, ensuring their smooth execution and compliance with protocols and regulations. Working closely with the Director of Clinical Research and Principal Investigators, you will oversee data collection, specimen management, and study results, contributing to the overall success of the research initiatives.
- Manage and coordinate clinical research studies, ensuring adherence to protocols and guidelines.
- Act as a liaison between services and departments, overseeing data and specimen management.
- Create, clean, and update databases, generating comprehensive datasets and reports.
- Assist with staff training and provide support to Assistant CRCs.
- Oversee the implementation of new studies and manage protocol applications.
- Ensure compliance with institutional review board approvals and University policies.
- Help maintain study data integrity and implement quality control procedures.
- Interface with departments to obtain necessary approvals for study initiation.
- Maintain regulatory documents and ensure compliance with relevant agencies.
- Participate in audits, reviews, and regular meetings with investigators to discuss study progress.
Required Qualifications:
- HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Experience working with health professionals in a hospital and/or clinic setting
- Experience working with patients in a health care setting
- Experience as clinical research coordinator or research assistant
- Attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with subjects, team members, other departments and outside institutions; and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while working with a diverse subject population.
- Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines.
- Understanding of patient population to create rapport and a relationship, while also giving insight to what is realistic and appropriate for patient participation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Associate degree in health-related field
- Minimum three years' experience as clinical research coordinator
- SoCRA or other research professional certification
- Bilingual (fluent in Spanish and English)
- Knowledge of UCSF and departmental policies for dealing with reimbursement, guidelines for research, confidentiality and HIPPA regulations, following the UCSF mission statement and purpose for research, and a clear understanding of policies and procedures on patient safety and confidentiality (electronic and hard copy medical records, patient charts, communication, etc.); knowledge of medical terminology, research policies and guidelines, guidelines for packing/shipping infectious substances, database building/analysis, and data management within some of the following: Access, Stata, SASS/ SPSS, and Teleform programming platforms.
- Experience applying the following regulations and guidelines:
- Good Clinical Practice Guidelines
- Health Information and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- The Protection of Human Research Subjects
- CHR regulations for recruitment and consent of research subjects
- Environmental Health and Safety Training
