Summary:
PennAero is hiring a Director of Engineering at our Allfast Fastening Systems location in City of Industry, CA. Allfast Fastening Systems is a leading global manufacturer of solid and blind rivets, blind bolts, temporary fasteners, and installation tools for the aerospace industry. Our fasteners are crucial for the structural integrity of both commercial airliners and military jets. JOB SUMMARY:
Has authority and responsibility for mechanical
product manufacturing, ensuring the highest level of quality and strict
adherence to specifications in providing quality products to the customer. Responsible for research and development
projects from origination to final product. This includes defining and implementing the proper procedures or
functions to optimize processes and reduce costs.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities
and Competencies:
Oversees development of manufacturing and tooling
blueprints, bills of material and work orders.
Initiates and/or coordinates all research and
development projects.
Responsible for all document control and other
engineering activities to ensure specifications are accurate and to the latest
revisions.
Implements the necessary controls to ensure quality
products are delivered on schedule.
Initiates and/or coordinates Engineering Change
Orders with various departments as necessary.
Participates in the Material Review Board.
Designs and performs experiments, conducts failure
analysis, and efficiently solves technical problems.
Coordinates capital expenditure planning and
justification with departmental or management representatives.
Responds to inquiries, problems, and complaints
involving customer and/or Quality Assurance.
Interacts with manufacturing, sales, and various
other departments, suppliers and customers in a supportive technical role.
Looks for and optimizes all opportunities for cost
reduction or avoidance by developing and implementing improved processes and/or
procedures.
Responsible for building/directing an effective
engineering organization and establishing a cohesive team.
Provides creative and
aggressive leadership in managing assigned functions.
Assumes lead role in continuous
improvement training and workshops.
Other duties as assigned.
This role is required to be on-site 5 days at the City of Industry, CA location.
Qualifications
Education and /or Experience:
A Bachelors
degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related
field. Ten years related experience; or
cumulative combination of education and experience. Minimum of five (5) years experience with
management responsibility in a high-volume manufacturing environment with
methods, processing, and MRP exposure.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general
business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or
governmental regulations. Ability to
write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information
and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and customers.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as
probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid
geometry and trigonometry. Ability to
apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to
practical situations.
Reasoning Abilities:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish
facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of
technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several
abstract and concrete variables.
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read and understand
blueprints.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual
should have knowledge of Design software; Development software; Manufacturing
software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing
software.
Compensation
In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $175,000 - $225,000.
Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
