Astrion has an exciting opportunity foran Engineering Technician IIIlocated at Redstone ArsenalinHuntsville, AL.Astrion has worked extensively with Redstone Arsenal where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality products tailored to the needs of its clients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of applicable experience supporting engineering or testing of hardware in the appropriate area of specialization; or 2 years of applicable college/vocational/military/technical school and 3 years of applicable experience in the assigned specialty area; and the following additional requirements:
a. Nondestructive Test (NDT) Technician - Must be certified (or capable of being certified within two years) to Level II of the radiographic requirements of ASNT (TC1A) or equivalent.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have or be able to obtain a DoD secret security clearance.
  • Industry Std based on Al Dept of Industrial Relations, Huntsville, in cooperation with US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2018
  • Must be certified (or capable of being certified within 2 years) to Level II of the radiographic requirements of ASNT (TC1A) or equivalent. A valid driver's license.Flexible to work overtime to meet schedule deadlines.
  • Must be able to understand and follow safety SOP and work procedures.
  • Must be self-motivated, dependable, possess written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Should be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and capable of lifting 50 lbs.Must be capable of obtaining Group II Level Explosive Certification and be willing to work in a hazardous environment.
  • The ability to work safely and efficiently is a must.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Experience with PLCs.
  • Previous experience working as an Engineering Technician.
  • Technical writing skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as part of a team of technicians and operators to conduct environmental testing.
  • Ensure that all instrumentation/test equipment is properly maintained and set up.
  • Monitor tests and record data, using both manual and automated means, and perform data compliance and consistency checks.
  • Ensure that simulated environments such as rain, salt, fog, high and low temperature, high and low humidity, altitude, etc. are properly calibrated and maintained.
  • Ensure that all instrumentation/test equipment is properly maintained and set up.
  • Monitor tests and record data, using both manual and automated means, and perform data compliance and consistency checks.
  • Create documents that pertain to test failures and anomalies.
  • Perform routine checks on equipment for visual issues or maintenance needs.
  • Communicate with engineers, technicians, and customers to discover and develop requirements, with the goal of optimizing and improving current and future processes.
