Your role in achieving results: We are looking for a Senior Manager - Environmental Health and Safety in Appleton, WI or Eden Prairie, MN. The Senior Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) is responsible for leading U.S. environmental compliance programs while supporting select health, safety, EHS auditing, and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements. This role serves as a subject matter expert in environmental regulations and supports facilities with regulated operations, including ammonia refrigeration systems. Manage the activities of personnel engaged in the shipping of cheese and whey products to customers.
- Serve as the environmental subjectmatter expert for U.S. operations and represent Agropur in environmental forums, regulatory engagements, and external discussions as required.
- Represents Agropur on environmental committees and organizations while upholding and communicating Agropur's Promise to promote the environmental outreach and culture of our U.S operations. Provide feedback on priorities, NC Matrix to members of the board and management.
- Provide input to EHS leadership regarding environmental compliance priorities, risks, noncompliance trends, and corrective action status.
- Actively participate in Agropur environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives aligned with corporate objectives.
- Supervises dedicated or assigned resources (Environmental Manager, PSM Coordinator)
- Coordinate with site Safety Managers, site champions, and assigned resources.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the U.S. environmental management system, such as legal compliance tracking, environmental impact and risk assessments, site environmental evaluations and audits/records and updating records.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. environmental laws and regulations across all applicable sites, including permitting, reporting, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Support environmental compliance projects, technical initiatives, and emergency management preparedness.
- Lead or support corporate environmental projects such as emissions reduction, waste minimization, and resource efficiency in line with Agropur's environmental action plan and social responsibility approach (carbon footprint, packaging optimization, eco-friendly communications, committees, etc.)
- Shapes the framework for Agropur's environmental file and ensures its supervision, with the approval of management and the Environmental Committee. The Sr. EHS Manager serves as the reference in their field of expertise and works with operations to evaluate the resources that are available/required to implement technical projects and compliance initiatives.
- Actively communicate environmental risks, requirements, and expectations clearly at all levels of the organization and support health and safety initiatives as needed, including incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Lead and participate in EHS audits, including environmental compliance, OSHA safety, and PSM audits.
- Assist in development and merging of EHS disciplines involving Process Safety Management into existing internal audits when applicable.
- Support OSHA PSM programs for ammonia refrigeration systems, such as compliance audits, documentation review, training verifications, and corrective action tracking.
- Coordinate and share environmental best practices across U.S. facilities while managing environmental consulting costs and support site and project budget planning.
- Prepare official environmental communications to regulatory agencies and internal communications to employees along with building and maintaining professional relationships with federal, state, and local regulatory authorities.
What we are looking for to deliver these results:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in environmental compliance or EHS roles within U.S. manufacturing or industrial environments required.
- Master's Degree or certifications preferred.
