DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Highway Maintenance Workers support roadway repair, construction activities, and sign maintenance that keep roadways safe and functioning properly. This position involves physical outdoor work that supports the overall transportation system. As a Highway Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Roadway Labor: Perform manual labor tasks on maintenance and construction projects along state highways
  • Sign Support: Assist sign crews by erecting and maintaining traffic signs and roadway delineators
  • Site Preparation: Clear work areas, move materials, and support safe job site conditions
  • Equipment Handling: Operate and carry tools, supplies, and materials used in roadway work
  • Team Assistance: Contribute to crew activities and help complete assigned maintenance tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal full-time employment from October 2026 to March 2027.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. Scheduled days and hours may vary due to seasonal requirements and operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and to work under adverse weather conditions.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
