| Position Summary |
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.
UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
This Technology Support Technician-Advanced position will support and enhance the secure, efficient, and compliant use of technology across Kenan-Flagler Business School by serving as a technical and information security resource within the School's IT organization. This role provides advanced support for Microsoft 365 administration including configuration, policy deployment, data governance, and user enablement and ensures that cloud collaboration platforms such as Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive are optimized for secure and effective academic and business operations.
The position plays a key role in strengthening the School's information security posture through hands-on participation in risk assessments, security incident response, user onboarding, and awareness initiatives in coordination with the Director of Information Security and the University's Information Security Office. It also contributes to business systems analysis and digital transformation efforts by helping to evaluate, configure, and automate processes using Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and other enterprise tools.
By combining technical expertise, customer service, and security awareness, this position helps ensure that Kenan-Flagler faculty, staff, and students can leverage technology safely and effectively in support of the School's teaching, research, and administrative mission. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position's role.
- Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journey level requires an additional six months experience
- Advanced level requires an additional one year of experience. |
| Management Preferences |
* Experience with information security risk assessment concepts (3rd party vendor and internal systems)
* Experience with cloud computing concepts and Microsoft 365 applications support
* Experience triaging information security events using Microsoft Entra, Defender, and CrowdStrike
* Experience with policy and procedure development and updates
* Experience working in an Academic IT environment. |
