Day Job, Monday - Friday, Early Clinic Closure on Fridays ;
16 - 40 hours per week (2-4 shifts) depending on the selected candidate preference.

The primary purpose of this Registered Nurse position is to provide nursing services with a focus on the care of participants who volunteer for clinical research studies conducted primarily in an ambulatory setting. The RN will provide specialized, professional nursing care to research subjects for healthy volunteers and to those with unusual and distinctive medical problems according to federal regulations, Good Clinical Practice, and local and institutional polices. The RN will support study implementation within the context of care delivery settings such as in the NC TraCS's Clinical and Translational Research Center ( CTRC) and UNC Medical Center as well as provide research on location services at UNC Heath clinics and hospitals, and the Schools of UNC. The RN will provide management of clinical and research support activities in order to assure patient safety, address clinical needs and assure protocol integrity and accurate data collection. The RN will ensure the integrity of research data while maintaining care that is safe, efficient, timely, effective, equitable, compassionate and patient-centered.

Job Responsibilities: Care requirements will be determined by the scope of study participation, the clinical condition of the participant and the requirements and clinical effects of research procedures. Duties will include but are not limited to, providing direct, individualized care to adult and pediatric research patients, phlebotomy and IV insertion, administration of investigational medications, monitoring and observation, performing ECG's, collecting and processing biological specimens, other data collection, providing direction and health teaching where applicable in relation to study protocol activities, reporting and recording care rendered, reporting the patient's response to that care, and contributing to the CTRC's continuous quality improvement programs including training of non-licensed research personnel.

License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

* Ability to remain in front of a computer for extended periods of time and the ability to move 30 lbs. with or without accommodation.
* Ability to travel distances within the hospital, on campus and to offsite locations for research on location functions with or without accommodation.

Clinic - UNCH or ACC, Evening work occasionally, Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, Exposure to Hazardous Materials, Laboratory, Patient care involved, Rotating shifts occasionally, Shift work occasionally.
