Our Director, Cyber Trust & Architecture provides enterprise leadership for cybersecurity architecture, identity strategy, Zero Trust, and secure-by-design practices across WPS, reporting directly to the Chief Information Security Officer. This Director establishes the future-state security architecture and control patterns needed to protect enterprise systems, applications, identities, data, cloud platforms, and networks, and advances WPS's IAM strategy, cloud and AI security architecture, and Zero Trust adoption. They work across many teams including: Technology, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Cloud, Data, Risk & Assurance, Business specific, they ensure cybersecurity architecture supports both business enablement and the organization's regulatory and resilience requirements.

Salary Range: $185,000 ~ $225,000
The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may fall outside of this range.

Work Location
Our first consideration will be to have this employee be able to take advantage of Hybrid work and collaboration, living within the state of Wisconsin. Employees within 45 miles of WPS Headquarters (1717 W. Broadway in Madison, WI, 53713) will be expected to be able to work in office 3 days a week on a regular basis.

  • Can define and maintain WPS's enterprise cybersecurity architecture strategy and target-state architecture, providing authoritative guidance for strategic cybersecurity technology initiatives and modernization efforts.
  • Enjoy establishing architecture strategies and standards, with decisions carrying enterprise-wide and multi-year impact; report progress and material risks to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
  • Have led the enterprise Identity and Access Management strategy and future-state architecture, driving maturity in least privilege, privileged access, role-based access control, and identity governance across the organization.
  • Want to establish and operate cybersecurity architecture governance and secure-by-design review processes, ensuring security requirements are incorporated into solution design before implementation.
  • Would thrive setting cybersecurity architecture principles and standards for cloud, network, data, and emerging technologies, including AI/ML, partnering with technology teams to build scalable security patterns rather than one-off solutions.
  • Can lead development and phased implementation of WPS's Zero Trust architecture and maturity roadmap across identity, devices, applications, and networks.
  • Have built, led, and developed a high-performing Cyber Trust & Architecture team, establishing clear responsibilities, career paths, and succession plans.
  • Would like to serve as senior cybersecurity architecture advisor to technology and business leaders, influencing decisions that span organizational boundaries and translating risk into sustainable architectural solutions.
  • Enjoy maintaining a multi-year cybersecurity architecture capability roadmap and communicate significant architectural risks, dependencies, and investment needs to cybersecurity and technology leadership.


Minimum Qualifications



  • US. Citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 10 or more years of progressive cybersecurity, information security, or related technology experience, including demonstrated experience establishing enterprise cybersecurity strategies, architecture standards, and technical roadmaps.
  • 5 years of management / people leadership experience.
  • Strong technical depth across identity, cloud, network, application, and data security architecture domains, sufficient to challenge assumptions and guide complex design decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or governing enterprise IAM capabilities, including authentication, authorization, identity governance, privileged access, RBAC, and MFA.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical control gaps into clear businessrisk implications and prioritized remediation strategies, paired with strong executivelevel communication, presentation, and stakeholderleadership skills.
  • Ability to design security architecture across complex hybrid environments spanning on-premises, cloud platforms, SaaS, applications, and data.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, government contracting, Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC), U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), Tricare, highly regulated, or federally controlled environments.
  • Experience supporting Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Section 912, CMMC, NIST 800-53/171, or other regulated audit and assurance environments.
  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CGRC, HCISPP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, or similar.
