CNC Machinist

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training, trade school, or machining certification preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, CAD drawings, work instructions, and technical documents in English.
• Strong shop math skills, including calculations for speeds, feeds, tolerances, and machining parameters.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience required.
• Experience setting up, programming, and operating HAAS CNC Mills and CNC Lathes.
• Proficiency with Haas Conversational Programming, G-Code, and Fusion 360.
• Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, UHMW, and plastic materials.
• Ability to write, edit, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs at the machine controller.
• Experience working with prototypes, custom parts, and small-batch manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating manual mills and manual lathes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing projects from programming through final production.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Reliable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Experience collaborating with engineering, fabrication, and assembly teams.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to operate shop equipment, machinery, hand tools, and small lifts.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments for extended periods.
• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing and machine shop environment.

Job Duties

• Independently manage machining projects from programming and setup through final production.
• Set up, program, and operate HAAS CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components.
• Program using Haas Conversational Programming, G-Code, and Fusion 360 software.
• Operate manual mills, lathes, and general shop equipment including drill presses, grinders, and band saws as needed.
• Read blueprints and CAD drawings to manufacture parts according to specifications and tolerances.
• Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, depth of cut, tooling, and coolant flow for optimal machining performance.
• Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools.
• Maintain tolerances as close as .005 and occasionally .001.
• Collaborate with engineering and assembly teams to support custom projects and prototype builds.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
