SUMMARY: The Tutor reports to the Director of Youth Development and will provide off-field education support to the Revolution Academy Residency Players.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and evaluate the academic progress of Academy Residency student-athletes enrolled in online educational programs, ensuring timely completion of coursework and academic requirements.
- Facilitate communication between student-athletes, online schools, instructors, parents (as appropriate), and Academy staff to promote academic success.
- Provide individualized academic support, tutoring, study strategies, and learning resources based on each student-athlete's educational needs.
- Conduct regular academic progress meetings with student-athletes and develop individualized academic action plans when necessary.
- Collaborate with student-athletes to establish effective academic schedules that balance educational responsibilities with training, travel, and competition demands.
- Provide college preparatory guidance to student-athletes, including NCAA academic eligibility requirements, college admissions planning, application requirements and timelines, and related academic planning.
- Coordinate scheduling and administration of state-required standardized testing and other academic assessments.
- Maintain regular communication with Academy leadership regarding student academic progress, concerns, and recommended interventions.
- Maintain accurate academic records and documentation while ensuring compliance with confidentiality, privacy, and applicable educational regulations.
- Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
- Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, English, Mathematics, or a related field required.
- 2-4 years of experience teaching, tutoring, academic advising, or educational support, preferably with high school or collegiate student-athletes.
- Knowledge of NCAA eligibility requirements, online learning platforms, college preparatory planning, and the college admissions process preferred.
- Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience using online learning management systems preferred.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Portuguese) preferred.
