Supervisor, Laboratory Clinical Lab Scientist

Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories seeks a CLS Laboratory Supervisor for their Core Clinical Lab department responsible for managing their work area. This including organizing the workflow, supervising employees, developing staff, controlling expenses, ensuring quality, improving process, and troubleshooting issues to deliver services effectively. The incumbent's responsibilities encompasses both administrative and operational or technical functions. Major accountabilities include:

  • Supports and directs the daily laboratory operation, guiding staff to meet customer needs in alignment with Cottage Health Systems' expectations. Key duties include staff scheduling, supply management, Kronos editing, quality control (QC) oversight, training and competency assessment, and overall staff evaluation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Education:

  • Minimum: Bachelor's Degree.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Minimum: California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Licensure and experience should be validated and deemed qualified under the guidelines of the State of California and CLIA to perform clinical laboratory tests and examinations classified as waived, moderate or high complexity as described under CLIA.
  • Preferred: Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) and/or Diplomate in Laboratory Science (ASCP) certification to demonstrate expertise in medical laboratory science and/or diagnostic laboratory medicine.

Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum: Adept in operating and troubleshooting a variety of laboratory instruments and computer systems. Demonstrates the ability to fulfill the technical supervisor, technical consultant, and/or general supervisor responsibilities under CLIA 88 regulations.
  • Preferred: Recent experience in relevant area within the applicable laboratory section.

Years of Related Work Experience:

  • Minimum: Three (3) years of clinical laboratory experience. Individuals assessing high-complexity technical competency of others, must have at least four (4) years of experience or training in the specialty area that they are evaluating.

Preferred: At least two (2) years of recent supervisory experience in a hospital or core laboratory setting.

*Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity.
