JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State is seeking a part-time Learning Designer to support the development of computer-based training and online learning products. The Clearinghouse develops evidence-informed resources, programs, and learning experiences that support military service members, families, and the professionals and organizations that serve them. This position will collaborate with subject-matter experts, researchers, design specialists, and other Clearinghouse staff to translate instructional content into engaging, accessible, and effective online learning experiences. The primary focus of this position will be developing self-paced, computer-based training using Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, or similar eLearning authoring tools. Typical responsibilities for this position could include: *Developing interactive computer-based training using Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, and similar eLearning development tools. *Translating existing curriculum materials, scripts, learning objectives, and subject-matter expert content into effective online learning experiences. *Creating course interactions, scenarios, knowledge checks, assessments, and other activities that support learner engagement and application. *Applying instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and evidence-based teaching practices to the development of online training. *Incorporating graphics, audio, video, animation, and other multimedia elements into online learning products as appropriate. *Revising and updating courses based on feedback from project staff, subject-matter experts, and reviewers. *Testing course functionality and helping ensure courses meet established quality, accessibility, and usability standards. *Preparing and publishing online courses for delivery through learning management systems. The successful candidate will have: *Experience developing self-paced online training or computer-based training using Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, or similar eLearning authoring tools. *Experience applying instructional design and adult learning principles to online learning. *Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging, and learner-centered instructional experiences. *Experience developing interactive learning activities, assessments, scenarios, or other online instructional elements. *Familiarity with accessibility principles and the development of accessible online learning products. *Strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with subject-matter experts and project teams. *Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with learning management systems, SCORM-based course delivery, graphic design, multimedia development, or Adobe Creative Suite is preferred. Experience developing learning products for military-connected audiences or working with military-focused programs and organizations is a plus.
