Position Purpose

The Automatic Taping Tools (ATF) Technician is responsible for assembling, disassembling, repairing, inspecting, and testing automatic taping tools and related products in accordance with established quality, safety, and production standards. This position utilizes hand tools, power tools, fixtures, work instructions, and testing equipment to complete assigned production and repair tasks. The technician is cross-trained to perform multiple functions within the production environment and actively supports continuous improvement, quality initiatives, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow standardized work instructions to assemble, disassemble, repair, inspect, and test automatic taping tools and related products.
  • Perform repair activities in accordance with established quality standards and production requirements.
  • Meet daily production goals, performance expectations, and departmental quotas.
  • Identify, document, and communicate quality defects found during assembly, repair, or inspection processes.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards, specifications, and production requirements.
  • Complete required production, repair, inspection, and quality documentation accurately and timely.
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs.
  • Maintain compliance with 5S standards, including Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain practices.
  • Cross-train and perform a variety of production, assembly, repair, and inspection functions as assigned.
  • Effectively utilize hand tools, pneumatic tools, cordless tools, fixtures, and testing equipment.
  • Read and follow blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and assembly procedures.
  • Inspect tools and equipment to identify defects, root causes, and opportunities for corrective action.
  • Maintain attendance standards and work overtime as required to support production demands.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and support personnel to achieve operational goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

Reports to production, manufacturing, or operations leadership.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel Requirements:

No regular travel required. Occasional travel may be required for training or business-related activities.

Physical Requirements:

Working Conditions:

Works primarily in a manufacturing, assembly, repair, and production environment. The position may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, production equipment, tools, and approved chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud and may require use of personal protective equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, speak, and understand English.
  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to inspect equipment and identify defects or causes of equipment issues.
  • Ability to apply logical reasoning and problem-solving skills to routine manufacturing or repair situations.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and repair procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally in a team environment.
  • Experience working with small hand tools, pneumatic tools, cordless tools, or similar equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand basic mechanical concepts.
  • Ability to learn multiple production processes and adapt to changing work assignments.
  • Ability to follow safety requirements and standard operating procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous assembly, manufacturing, repair, production, or technician experience.
  • Experience working with hand tools, pneumatic tools, power tools, or mechanical equipment.
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement environment.
  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings.
  • Experience performing product assembly, repair, inspection, or testing activities.
  • Mechanical repair or troubleshooting experience.

Minimum Education:

High school diploma, General Education Development (GED) equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education:

Technical, vocational, manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial training preferred.

Minimum Years of Work Experience:

One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications:

None required.
